1. VoIP Provider's Business Needs

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service is a voice communication service provided on the Internet Protocol (IP). VoIP enables users to make long distance calls at local call costs. The VoIP Provider can have two business models: a wholesale service (for corporate users) as well as a retail service (for individual users).

  • Easy to Use. As Web browser has become Internet's most popular application, using it as main user interface will gives users short learning curve. Trabas dataweb is also equipped with easy-to-comprehend manuals providing business process insight as well as step-by-step guide.
  • Easy Data Retrieval and Formatting. Every list and report provides Query and Tracking facilities to help users get the desired data. Save-to-Text feature allows users to save data to tab-delimited text file for further formatting with external applications.

2.2.1 Define Service & Tariff

Trabas VoIP Billing enables Marketing to create and customize Service Packages which consists of series of services and their tariffs.

The tariff of a Service Package can be a total of its components or a new (defined) tariff, where the higher-level tariff overrides its components. Trabas VoIP Billing's flexible tariff mechanism allows VoIP Provider to apply various tariff schemes:

  • One-time tariff, monthly fee, duration-based
  • Special tariff on weekdays, weekends, specific day or dates, specific range of hours
  • Different tariff policies for specific duration, for example:
    • first 6 seconds: free
    • second 6 to second 30: rounded up to 30 seconds
    • second 30 until end: rounded to 10 second interval
    • Discounts to all, or to a specific Service Package, Service, or on specific day/date

2.2.2 Manage User & Account

Trabas VoIP Billing allows VoIP Provider to create users & user groups, accounts & child accounts - for any type of user: Customer, Operator, or Administrator. Customer Care staff can easily subscribe the Account to a Service Package, while Administrator can define user's or user group's access rights to the system. Trabas VoIP Billing is also customers' tool to manage their own information such as update profile, change password, or view billing inquiry.

2.2.3 Calculate Connection & Create Invoice

In calculating the connection, Trabas VoIP Billing can recognize a call by its trunk number (caller ID) or from its originating phone number.

In managing billing transactions & invoices, the system provides two ways:

  1. Scheduled (single or multiple batch), bulk, back-end process, and
  2. Interface for individual process, where the scheduled processes can be repeated by individual processes, allowing VoIP Provider to do any correction or problem solving on the billing process.

The system also enables the tracking of any billing problems. Billing staff can see the summary of CDR accounting, and track the problem back to its Radius data. She can also track the Invoice to its Billing Transactions, VoIP Usage, and VoIP CDR. The system also provides facility to create pre-formatted Invoice, Printable and Print-Preview of Invoice, email or fax the invoice.

2.2.4 Financial Reports

Trabas VoIP Billing provides facilities to maintain and monitor payment - such as receiving Customer Payment. Billing and Payment information will be summarized in Financial reports such as Account Receivables (A/R), and A/R Aging.

2.2.5 Manage Database

Trabas VoIP Billing uses Trabas dataweb technology, which allows Database Administrator to manage database from a Web browser. He can insert new record, update records, even make queries for new reports. From the same Web interface, he can also create new pages, restructuring the pages, and update the content of a particular page.
